Zoom Yoga Therapy for Trans Persons
Release Stress, Anxiety, & Trauma in a Trans-safe Space - Wed 7:00 pm Eastern
Service Description
The current climate in the US and the World is rarely compassionate to trans and non-binary people. Repeated exposure to microaggressions, negative news about trans care, and transphobic gatekeeping causes trauma. These sessions are a MUST for any gender-expansive persons battling with stress, anxiety, chronic pain, depression, autoimmune conditions, or negatively impacted by an overactive or dysfunctional nervous system no matter the cause. You will leave with tools to promote self-regulation, resiliency, self-love, and radial acceptance. Meet your whole self – body, mind, emotions, spirit, and breath – where you are through a practice of compassionate presence and honoring your individual needs in a trans-safe space. The extended time in the forms allows you to explore and choose what will serve you best: yin yoga methods to nurture your connective tissue and create more space and ease or highly supportive restorative yoga methods to allow the whole self to heal and replenish. You can even choose somewhere in between. It is your practice! Learn additional ancient tools yogic and shamanic practices including breathing exercises, meditation, mantras, mudras, and even complimentary modalities such as tapping, acupressure, self-massage, and myofascial release. All – and we mean all – trans, non-binary, and genderqueer people are welcome in this trauma-informed, body-neutral space regardless of race, sexuality, ability, mobility, size, experience, religion, socioeconomic class, etc. This practice generally takes place on the floor, no mat or standing is necessary. Participation from bed or utilizing two sturdy chairs without wheels is also welcome. If you have special requests or need accommodations or modifications you do not wish to share with the group, you are encouraged to DM Kristi in the Zoom chat prior to the start of class to let her know. If you feel you would benefit from this service but truly cannot afford the sliding scale, please reach out. There are 2 in-person slots available for this session on a first-to-sign-up basis. Sign up as usual and then send an e-mail to optimal wellness yoga AT gmail dot com with no spaces requesting to be in-person and you will receive the address and instructions.
